Shanghai Times...

A day comes in everyones life that they would have never thought about or rather would say never ever dreamt about. So was my day of landing in Shanghai...
To commence with , completely stranded in our catostrophic married life,My husband and I were looking for all possible options to turn over a new leaf !!
Before moving on , feedback from all sources narrowed to just one fact 'it is going to be a miserable stay 'in land of mystry especially for a pure vegetarian like us !!!!. But since at that point in time , having crossed all possible sorts of myseries , it wasn't adding even .0001% of fear in us. We were ready for anything and everything.
We cargoed all that we could :-) and moved into shanghai......

What z in await for us here ???

What we heard 1: "Oh all announcements , Sign boards, advertisements is going to be in chinese. You will never be able to make out where you are travelling"
In reality: All announcements , sign boards or any form of communications are in Chinese followed by English. Especially public transits(every metro train) had the complete map of stations with interchange information displayed in a interpretable, user-friendly formats .

what we heard2: What will you do for hospitalization ? you have to run back to india for anything and everything.
In reality: I got hospitalized here once. Its just the same as in India. service was infact far better.

What we heard3: Food is going to be a major problem. you will never get everything that you require to cook.
In Reality: Ofcourse, we dont get everything. Its the case even in India, but I get almost everything to run a decent family.

What we heard4: Climate is extreme , you will hate to be there.
In reality: Winters are very cold and summers are very hot, but it never went to the extent that we hate the city for that.

I indeed waited for 6 months to completely judge before posting this article inorder to be true to what I say and to not regret after posting..
In precise, Shanghai has given us more than we anticipated.... Yes we did turn over a new leaf :-) ......
